Tomato Care

PLANTING

After planting your tomato plant, make your first application of Hi-Yield® Calcium Nitrate.

Apply your first application of ferti•lome® Blooming & Rooting, repeat applications 2 more times 3 to 4 days apart. Apply Hi-Yield® Vegetable & Ornamental Insect Control if you have cutworms.

BLOSSOMS

When blossoms start to grow, but aren’t yet forming fruit, apply ferti•lome® Tomato & Pepper Set to flower. Make at least 3 applications 7 to 10 days apart.

FRUIT STARTS FORMING

(When little tomatoes are the size of a quarter) Make 2nd application of Hi-Yield® Calcium Nitrate, repeat again in 3 weeks. Make 1st application of Natural Guard® Brand by ferti•lome® Natural and Organic Tomato & Vegetable Food, repeat monthly.

BLOSSOM END ROT

If you get Blossom End Rot, apply Hi-Yield® Calcium Nitrate; repeat 2 more times, 2 weeks apart.
Also apply ferti•lome® Yield Booster to small fruit, up to a little bigger than a quarter.
Applications to larger fruit or foliage are ineffective. Make 2 or 3 applications 7 days apart.

FUNGUS LEAF SPOT OR EARLY BLIGHT

These two fungi cause spots on the leaves, slowly killing the leaf. It always starts at the bottom of the plant and works its way up, killing leaves the whole way, eventually reducing yield.

To prevent these fungus and bacterial issues, apply Natural Guard® Brand by ferti•lome® Copper Soap. Make 2 or 3 applications 7 to 10 days apart.

To prevent only the fungus, apply ferti•lome® Broad Spectrum Fungicide. Make 2 or 3 applications 7 to 10 days apart.

TOMATO HORNWORM

Tomato hornworm is a common worm insect of tomatoes. Apply the natural product, Natural Guard® Brand by ferti•lome® Spinosad or Natural Guard® Brand by ferti•lome® Spinosad Soap RTU. Make 2 applications 4 to 7 days apart.

Natural Guard® Brand by ferti•lome® Spinosad Soap is also effective on aphids, flea beetles, spidermites, ants and more.

GENERAL INSECTS

As a hard chemistry option apply Hi-Yield® Garden & Farm Spray or Hi-Yield® Garden, Pet & Livestock Dust (although this is not particularly effective on worms).
